Sidewalk Style is a feature where we photograph stylish people on the street and ask them about their fashion tips and ideas. This week, it's fashion on the runway...literally.

“One of our clients is an airport-restaurant management company, hence our quirky locale at Reagan National Airport. But we also do PR for companies all over the area, including hotels, restaurants, and some nonprofits. Best perk fashionwise? I don’t have to wear a suit every day.”
What are you wearing? “I just cleaned out my childhood home outside Boston and found a dark denim jacket covered with pins. Was that cool even for 1994? One of the pins was from the National Zoo, so at least I had some taste in fun places to go, if not fashion. The one I’m wearing in this picture is from the Gap, and it was one of the first things I knew I had to pack when I studied abroad because it’s so versatile. “The purse is by Melie Bianco, and if you have little enough in it, you can fold over the top and carry it like a clutch. You can find the brand at Discovery Galleries in Bethesda, but I got mine for less (money-saving tip alert!) via Amazon.com. “The scarf is from Target. I like folding it in a triangle with the point down the front so looks a bit banditlike.

"OMG, S. Did you see what they made Vanessa wear?! She looked like a mango slushy."
We know we're a little behind on posting this week's Gossip Girl season finale recap—truthfully, we're so sad to bid the show farewell for the summer that we've been putting it off as long as possible. It was definitely worth the wait: After a few recent fashion-y slumps, this week's episode was chock full of ruffles, intrigue and Vanessa in the most hideous dress ever for Bart and Lily's big wedding extravaganza.

Tapas and a cash bar start at 7pm; the show begins at 8pm. Monday, May 26: It's Memorial Day! If you're holding any antiquated notions about when you're allowed to wear white, then the wait is over. Sidewalk Style is a feature where we photograph stylish people on the street and ask them about their fashion tips and ideas. This week we caught up with Jessica Cope. Sidewalk Style is written by Rachel Cothran of the local street-fashion photography blog ProjectBeltway.com.

Jessica Cope, 21 Student, Medical University of South Carolina. I chatted with her and her mother, Mary, who were taking a shopping break outside of Le Pain Quotidien in Georgetown on Saturday.
What she’s wearing: A skirt from the Cage in Virginia Beach, her mother’s tank top (double the wardrobe!), and a breezy, citron-green sweater. Her bag is Cole Haan. Her earrings are from a street market in Charleston and were less than ten bucks.
How do you like to dress? “I like flowy clothes,” says Cope, who’d just left Intermix with a filmy patterned dress that fits the bill perfectly. “I would never wear really preppy stuff, like Lily Pulitzer.” Because Cope hails from Charleston, she told us where to shop and eat the next time we’re there, including Intermix-like Biton, the boutique Luna, and restaurants like Cypress and S.N.O.B., which is a cute acronym for the location of the popular (but not at all snobby) eatery Slightly North of Broad.

Menswear clothier Craig Fox on fashion trends, spending your money wisely, how Obama has McCain beat, and more.
Wide lapels. Three-button suits. Ascots. Craig Fox has seen it all since he and fellow George Washington University classmate William Frank opened Wm. Fox & Co. in 1965. His Savile Row-style shop in downtown DC (1427 G St., NW; 202-783-2530; wmfox.com) feels like a gentlemen’s club.
We asked Fox to share his observations about men’s fashion in Washington. An excerpt of this interview ran in the June issue; read on for a fuller transcript.

Biased? Us? We don't know what you are talking about. Photo courtesy of the CW.
There’s nothing we love more than when Washington earns some fashion cred, which is why we were incredibly excited to glimpse our hometown fashion hero Johanna Cox in the just-released promos for the upcoming CW Network fashion-reality show Stylista.

It doesn’t matter if our favorite TV show takes place on the streets of Manhattan instead of the Hill—we can shamelessly squeal over the clothing from anywhere. Here are our favorite moments from TV’s most-fashion-inspiring show, Gossip Girl.
"Listen to me: I'm wearing a leopard print sweater, and they gave me those ugly earrings to wear...AGAIN. I want out of my contract!" Photo Courtesy of the CW.
It's no secret that our beloved Gossip Girl has been suffering in the ratings ever since it returned from the writer's strike hiatus. We can't quite figure out why–after all, everyone we know watches it religiously–but if we ever manage to meet one of those influential Nielsen audience members, we're definitely planning to give them a piece of our mind about this. (Come to think of it, we're still pretty bitter they didn't give Arrested Development and My So-Called Life more love, too.) Now, short of accosting Nielsen viewers to help up the ratings, we'd have to say the producers would probably see a bigger boost if the shows had more than one outfit change. This week's episode was fraught with over-the-top drama, but that's no excuse for the lack of eye candy on our small screen. I mean, Blair in two outfits? For the whole show? What is our TV world coming to? GG's somber storyline (death! drugs! fuzzy flashbacks!) also set the tone for some subdued ensembles. Absent from this week's show were Jenny and the clique-y crew in their cheerful day-glo bright outfits (though I'm getting really tired of the whole "this character is not on this episode because she decided to take a spontaneous trip!" excuse). Instead, we had our fill of mustard-y yellows, burnt oranges, deep purples and lots of black. Sequined, very cute black (on Blair toward the episode's end), but black nonetheless.
