If you are an end-of-season bargain hunter, this weekend is your Black Friday. The Annual Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale is taking over the streets of Alexandria and Del Ray this weekend for a shopping event that will feature over 50 boutiques selling their end-of-season merchandise at basement bargain prices. So sale shoppers, now’s the time to stock up for the last few weeks of summer and to prep for closet for next year.
Deals include up to 75 percent off designer shoes at The Shoe Hive and Bishop Boutique (think Badgley Mischka and Ivanka Trump), 40 percent off jewelry, housewares, and other gifts at the new Curated shop (think bar cart accessories and Rifle Paper Co. goodies), with 50 percent off 529 Kids Consign’s children apparel, shoes, and accessories and up to 60 percent off Dash’s of Old Town’s menswear, as well as discounts at Hysteria and Sara Campbell (think GiGi New York handbags and cashmere).
For those of whom getting to Alexandria is a bit of a hike, Old Town is offering free parking at all meters both Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, those who post about their experiences at the sale on social media using the hashtag #SidewalkSaleALX will be entered to win a gift certificate at local restaurants, such as Society Fair and Bistrot Royal.
In additional to joining Alexandria’s shopping extravaganza, Current Boutique, which has locations in Old Town as well as Clarendon, Logan Circle, and Bethesda, will have 20 percent off both in-store and online purchases, starting Friday. The sale will run throughout the weekend, providing discounts on the already-discounted designer apparel, accessories, and shoes, such as these Helmut Lang sandals or this Prada shirt dress.
The Sidewalk Sale will take place in Old Town Alexandria, and it will run August 1 through 2. Hours will vary for individual businesses.
