Mint Meets Modern: 25 Edgier Takes on the Ubiquitous Pastel
Spring’s sweetest hue shows off a sassier side. By Michelle Thomas

Inevitably, when spring finally rolls around, the serious darks and subdued neutrals of winter make way for the lighter, brighter hues of warmer months. Vibrant shades seem essential. Neons look all the more enticing. And, of course, there are pastels.

This year, a very specific pastel is leading the pack. Call it mint, call it celadon, call it pistachio—light, hazy greens and super-soft aquas are having a major moment. We confess: Initially, we resisted. Mint green? Isn’t that shade a bit too sweet for our black-saturated, stud-obsessed style? And THEN. That’s when we started spotting another take on this dainty color—styles that transform the gentle airiness of mint into something much more current. Cooler. Edgy, even. Maybe it’s dotted with gleaming gold studs, or reimagined in sleek, sexy leather, or shaped into an of-the-moment silhouette. Whichever way, this is a side of pastel we love.
