Sidewalk Style: Deniz Sarhaddi

Sidewalk Style is a feature where we photograph stylish people on the street and ask them about their fashion tips and ideas. This week we caught up with Deniz Sarhaddi. Sidewalk Style is written by Rachel Cothran of the local street-fashion photography bl

Deniz Sarhaddi, 23

What are you wearing? “Anthropologie dress, Christian Lacroix yellow wedges and jewelry from Mexico and Swarovski. The bag is vintage.”

What’s your favorite thing in your closet? “A Manoush dress with ice-cream cones all over it.”

How would you describe your style? “Trendy but wearable. I’m a little bit more conservative than ‘trendy.’ ”

What do you think about style in DC? “I think you can wear whatever you want here. You always hear that Washington is really conservative, but I think you can get away with much more than people would think.”

Rachel says: This floaty maxi-length style is a great summer dress. It’s easy and elegant and works for evening, so it’s perfect for those see-where-the-day-takes-us kinds of weekends. Plus, the shoulders are a very attractive part to show off on most women.
