There are tons of local fitness blogs that we love, but these are Well+Being readers' favorites.

At Well+Being we work hard to give you the best advice on living healthy in DC, from the newest fitness craze to hit the area to which restaurants offer gluten-free meals. But we would be nothing without our readers and fellow local bloggers, who keep us on our toes and make sure we’re not missing out on anything health-related. That’s why we reached out to you, dear followers, and asked you to share your favorite fitness bloggers in Washington. And we have to say, we completely agree!* If you need some extra motivation to get off the couch, you’ll want to bookmark these blogs right now.

DC Fit Crasher
The crasher behind this blog is Meaghan Stakelin, a 26-year-old who chronicles every fitness class she takes in DC in great detail. Stakelin is a former swimmer, a marathon runner, and a triathlete. The blog is just a few months old, but she’s already become a go-to resource for those curious about what smaller DC studios have to offer.

Workout Wonks
Lexie and Kristine, self-described “fitness geeks,” recently began the Workout Wonks blog to highlight their favorite local workouts and everything and anything fitness-related. Lexie is a certified yoga instructor.

The Run Within
Alex Shabo works in the nonprofit sector, but her true passion is running. “I named my blog ‘The Run Within’ because running has helped me through some of my tough times,” she writes. “When I run, I truly leave it all out there.” She also offers some great tips on gluten-free living since she suffers from celiac disease.

The Chase Project
Chase Leist is a real estate analyst by day and a group exercise instructor at Gold’s Gym in Clarendon by night. She also just became a certified Level 1 CrossFit trainer. She doesn’t update quite as regularly as most bloggers, but with her intense schedule, can you blame her?

Knack for Nutrition
Jennifer Altoff documents her life in DC as an ACE-certified personal trainer—while working at a desk job. “I also write honestly and openly about my struggles with food,” she writes. Knack for Nutrition follows her journey to figure out how to balance work, fitness, and healthy living.

The Sweet Life
Erika Anderson loves running so much, she switched her blog’s focus from politics to living healthfully. She’s run a bunch of marathons and is an avid CrossFitter. We especially like her helpful post called “CrossFit at Home: 10 Items You Need.”

On a Pink Typewriter
We love Joelle for her honesty about her hot-and-cold relationship with running. In her words, she’s “broken up with running more times than I care to count.” She’s currently chronicling her 30-day Paleo diet challenge and deciding what half marathon to run this year—once she’s off crutches, of course.

Fannetastic Food
Anne Mauney is a food and fitness blogger who hopes to become a registered dietitian in the near future. Not only does she give the low-down on local fitness classes, recap local races, and offer tasty recipes, but she also reviews workout clothes.

Wicked Healthy Washingtonian
We couldn’t believe it when we found out Allison used to weigh 210 pounds. Through healthy eating and exercise she got her weight down to 135 pounds. Her blog is an inspiration to anyone trying to live a healthy lifestyle.

*Editor’s note: We noticed there was no love for any male fitness bloggers in your recommendations. If you have other suggestions, please leave them in the comments section!

I'm also a DC runner/ athlete - new to the blogging scene! check out my blog at sneakertherapy.wordpress.com. I ran my first marathon last year (signed up for 2 halfs and a full this year), and I chronicle my training and DC adventures on my blog.

Most of the bloggers dont talk about trackers that can help a person in measuring their fitness level. This new brand Amiigo helps you set goals on your fitness levels inside and outside your house. On weekends you can track how active you have been by washing clothes, going upstair or down in the basement, washing your car etc. If you don't see enough points on your smartphone you will know its time to go for a walk before ending your lazy day. Outside the house it just tracks everything from swimming, cycling to hiking and weight lifting. You name the exercise and it got you covered. Thats the brand Amiigo! I am quite happy to know there is such a thing now that can change my life. It can change yours too!
