To Do: Pacers 20th Anniversary Relay
Mark your calendar for August 6—this is a run you won’t want to miss By Emily Leaman

How does a running store celebrate its 20th anniversary? With a relay, of course.

Mark your calendar for the August 6 fun run. You and two relay partners will log 16.5 miles on a course that takes you from Pacers store to Pacers store. The run begins at Pacers Alexandria and ends at the shop in Arlington, with 6-mile, 5½-mile, and 5-mile legs in between. The first 20 teams—that’s 60 runners if you’re counting—to register will get a goodie bag with swag from sponsor Ragnar Relay Series, plus fun stuff from Pacers. The best part? Registration for the race is free. Yes, free.

Another plus: This is an evening event—the gun goes off at 6 PM—so no early-morning wake-ups required. From 7 to 10:30, there will be a post-race party at Pacers Arlington with drinks, food, and lots of raffle prizes.

You have to register with a team of three to participate. If you’re having a hard time convincing your friends to run a leg, check out the Pacers Facebook page. Organizers are encouraging single runners to find partners there.
