SOME’s 11th Annual Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger

Run for the homeless at SOME’s Thanksgiving Day race. SOME provides meals, clothing, and medical care to the homeless. The race course is flat and begins at Freedom Plaza. Participants will receive a T-shirt. Register for $25 untimed or $30 as a timed participant.

MVHS Cares 5K Turkey Trot

This race benefits needy children in the Mount Vernon community. Prizes will be given to the top two male and female finishers, as well as those who finish first and second in their age groups. The race begins at Mount Vernon High School (8515 Old Mount Vernon Rd., Alexandria). Register for $25 online or $30 on race day.
Freeze Your Gizzard 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run

The tenth annual Freeze Your Gizzard races starts and finishes at the gazebo in Ida Lee Park (60 Ida Lee Dr., Northwest Leesburg). The first 400 5K runners who come in turkey-themed costumes will receive a special giveaway. Registration is $20 for the 5K and $10 for the one-mile race, plus two cans of food that will be donated to Loudoun Interfaith Relief’s food bank.
Town of Herndon Turkey Trot 5K

The first 750 runners to register for this race through Herndon will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt. The town will be collecting used running shoes, which will be recycled and used to make track fields, playgrounds, and basketball courts. Register for $15 and bring a canned good for donation.
Vienna Turkey Trot 10K, 5K, and Fun Run

The tenth annual Vienna Turkey Trot benefits the James Madison High School Marching Band and the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. The winners of the 10K and 5K will receive cash prizes, a trophy, and a turkey. Register for $35 for the 10K, $25 for the 5K, and $15 for the one-mile run.
Ashburn Farm Thanksgiving Day 10K/5K

The 19th annual Ashburn Farm Thanksgiving Day Race benefits Africa’s Humble School. Runners who raise the most extra funds for the students will receive a Kindle Fire, a Kindle Paperwhite, or a $50 Amazon gift certificate. The races begin on Ashburn Farm (21400 Windmill Dr., Ashburn). Register for $30 for the 10K or 5K and $15 for the 2K.
24th Annual Virginia Run Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K

All proceeds from this race go to Life with Cancer, a Fairfax-based organization that offers support and education for anyone affected by cancer. All runners will receive a short-sleeve T-shirt. Register for $25 until November 2 for the 5K (the price increases to $30 after); $15 for adults for the 2K walk; or $10 for children and seniors for the 2K walk (prices increase to $20 after).
Giving Thanks 5K

Fallen heroes will be honored at the Giving Thanks 5K. Proceeds from the 5K and one-mile fun run will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Register for $25 for the 5K or $15 for the one-mile fun run.

Once you’ve stuffed yourself with Thanksgiving dinner (and multiple helpings of leftovers), burn it off at the Montgomery County Road Runners Club’s five-mile and ten-mile races. The course through Seneca Creek State Park (11950 Clopper Rd., Gaithersburg) is scenic and includes some rolling hills.
