Online registration for the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon opens today at noon. This year’s race will be held on Sunday, May 20, at 7 AM in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Organized by the Marine Corps Marathon, this popular race is celebrating its fifth anniversary and offering lots of perks for registrants. All who sign up will receive a medal, a T-shirt, a year-long membership to the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center, and an artistic rendering of the 13.1-mile course by artist Kevin Brown.

During this race, for the first time, family and friends will be able to follow competitors’ splits and finish times on their personal Facebook and Twitter pages, or by e-mail and text. Each runner will have a disposable timing tag attached to his or her runner’s bib.

It should also be noted that participants must maintain an 18-minute-per-mile pace.

It’s $65 to register until March 14, when fees will increase to $80.

Not ready to run the half? Register as a team for $90—each member will run 6.55 miles of the course. Or sign up for the Semper Fred 5K ($35). Register for both races here.
