The Kentucky Society of Washington Announces Details of 2013 Bluegrass Ball
Featuring Award-Winning Guest Executive Chef Edward Lee of Louisville’s 610 Magnolia Restaurant
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Kentucky Society of Washington, D.C., will celebrate the 57th Presidential Inauguration with their Bluegrass Ball on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel (2660 Woodley Road, NW), beginning at 6:30 p.m.
This year, the Kentucky Society President, Winn Williams and Bluegrass Ball Chairman, Anne-Marie Kelley are excited to announce that Chef Edward Lee, a nationally recognized chef and proprietor of 610 Magnolia restaurant in Louisville, Ky., will be executive chef for the event. Chef Lee is also two-time James Beard Foundation Best Chef Southeast Finalist and an alumni of popular culinary competition programs Iron Chef America and Top Chef.
“Chef Lee will be bringing a distinct and sophisticated taste of the Bluegrass to Washington,” Ms. Kelley said. “We are so proud to showcase one of Kentucky’s culinary stars at one of Washington’s most popular events.”
The Kentucky State Society Bluegrass Ball is steeped in tradition, which has contributed to the remarkable honor of kicking off inaugural ball celebrations for Washington, D.C. Established in 1912, the Kentucky Society is one of the oldest in the nation’s capital, and held its first ball to honor Vice President Alben W. Barkley in 1949.
The black-tie, seated dinner event, which was named an “Editors Pick” by the Washington Post in 2009 and 2005, is expected to bring in almost 1,500 guests.
A limited number of tickets are available for purchase with Membership to the Kentucky Society at the following address: http://www.kentuckysociety.org/bluegrassball.htm.
