Event Details:

Café Saint-Ex is pleased to announce that Mary Savig, a Smithsonian archives specialist, is signing her beautiful new book, “Handmade Holiday Cards from 20th-Century Artists”, at the restaurant during a festive Happy Hour from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Wednesday, December 12. This event, held by Café Saint-Ex in conjunction with Politics and Prose, Smithsonian Books and Som Records, is open to the general public, and there is no admission charge. DJ Neville C. will provide the music, while Café Saint-Ex is offering $2 off all draft beers and $1 off all rail cocktails, as well as several food specials. The full dinner menu is also available. In her book, Savig shows how artists imagined the holidays through original drawings, etchings, silk-screen prints and watercolors. Rarely seen beyond the eyes of their recipients, these cards confirm the irrepressibly artistry of their senders, including such acclaimed artists as Josef Albers, Alexander Calder, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Robert Motherwell, Nickolas Muray and Ad Reinhardt.
