Event Details: Sackler, ImaginAsia classroom, sublevel 2

Beginning around 3000 BCE and ending by the 2nd century CE, cuneiform was used by more than ten ancient cultures to write down everything from letters to information on agricultural production or poetry. We have evidence for tablets used in scribal schools and in daily communications. Mid-nineteenth century scholars deciphered the ancient scripts and their translations revolutionized our understanding and appreciation of the history and mythology of the Middle East. Use an activity book to explore the exhibition Cyrus Cylinder and then return to the ImaginAsia classroom to incise messages on clay tablets using styluses
