Event Details: Meyer Auditorium, Freer

Baltimore-based ensemble Boister visits the Freer to perform their acclaimed live score to D.W. Griffith’s masterpiece. Starring silent film darling Lillian Gish, the film intercuts four narratives thematically linked by its title: a contemporary melodrama, the death of Jesus Christ, the St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre of 1572, and - most magnificently - the fall of Babylon at the hands of the Persians in 539 BC. (Dir.: D.W. Griffith, United States, 1916, silent, 197 min.)
