Open Mic at Zeba Lounge Celebrates Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Washington DC.—On January 20, 2013 at 7:30pm the poets of the DC Poetry Project will host a two hour Open Mic Spoken Word Event dedicated to the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This Event which is free and open to the general public hopes to raise positive and factual consciousness about Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement. Assistant Organizer Brenda Bunting said, "We live in an era where many of our Civil Rights are quietly being eroded at every turn. Fortunately Poets and Artists continue to function as catalysts of awareness and change."
The DC Poetry Project is an online group with over 300 members open to all artistic, enlightened, vibrant entertaining individuals who respect and appreciate the spoken word and poetry. They host a monthly Open Mic Poetry Event that will be collecting donations in 2013 100% of which goes to the Red Cross for relief efforts from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. Zeba Bar and Grill is located at 3423 14th Street NW in Washington DC.
