This promises to be an evening of beautiful jazz as Sharon Rae North graces the stage of the legendary Twins Jazz for two shows to promote her new cd, a collection of jazz standards called "Gee Baby".
North's impeccable phrasing, timing, delivery and interpretation of songs will delight and mesmerize the Twins Jazz audience. This is her first performance at Twins Jazz since 2006.
• “Line up all the female jazz vocalists you can think of and Sharon Rae North can sing them all under the table.” Jay Edwards, DJ WCLK-FM, Atlanta, GA
• "Sassy, sensual, soulful and spectacular
Nina Simone with a little bit of Della and Ella tossed in for color." DJ Carmen Brown of 98.3 WDLT-FM, Mobile, AL
Sharon Rae North is a talented songstress who sings jazz (straight-ahead, contemporary, smooth, etc.) and standards. Her latest CD “Gee Baby” collection of straight-ahead jazz standards is well on its way to follow in the footsteps of her last project, the smooth jazz “The Way You Make Me Feel”, which continues to receive airplay in markets internationally and has received phenomenal reviews.
Sharon sounds just as good live as she does in the studio. She puts on a fabulous performance and has opened for many national acts, including Joe Sample and the Jazz Crusaders, Lonnie Liston Smith, Jean Carne and Patti LaBelle. She has shared the stage with Chaka Khan, Lalah Hathaway, Stanley Clark, Boney James, Chuck Mangione, Norman Brown, Poncho Sanchez, Marcus Johnson, Bob Baldwin and many others. Following her performances at the Jazz at Maymont festival in Richmond, VA, Baldwin expressed an interest in working with her on her next project. Stay tuned.
