Join Horizons Greater Washington, a celebrated DC-based education nonprofit, at the Mexican Cultural Institute on May 8 for Fiesta! 2013. Cocktails and festive hors d'oeuvres will be served.
Award-winning NPR Education Correspondent Claudio Sanchez will speak at the fiesta-themed benefit, which will raise funds for Horizons’ tuition-free summer enrichment program, directly benefitting over 270 low-income students in the DC area.
Since 2000, Horizons Greater Washington has provided a six-week summer academic enrichment program and school year Saturday program designed to help a diverse population of children from low-income families. The full-day program includes meals, field trips, daily swimming, cultural excursions and creative academic instruction from experienced teachers in classrooms with a 5:1 student-teacher ratio.
Horizons is unique in that it makes a nine-year commitment to each of its students, which guarantees those in the program will receive free enrollment to its $2,500/year academic enrichment program from Kindergarten through middle school.
