Washington’s 23rd-annual international film festival runs April 16 through 26 at various venues. The 100-plus films will include local premieres, foreign-language Oscar nominees, and more. Among the selections: Ramchand Pakistani, about a Hindu father and son from Pakistan’s “untouchables” caste who accidentally cross the Indian border and are jailed; Dancers, a Danish movie about a woman who falls in love with an electrician with a dark past; and, from Japan, Achilles and the Tortoise, about a man, orphaned as a boy, who pursues a lifelong passion for painting.
