The word premiere Kuchipudi dance ballet, Bhagmati, presents storytelling through mime and movement in a spectacular dance production. Set in the ancient kingdom of Golconda during Mughal rule, this historical dance drama tells the true love story between Muslim prince Quli Qutb Shah and Bhagmati, a beautiful Hindu temple dancer. The young couple is confronted at every turn by judgment, conflict and jealousy, and struggles to overcome the barriers of religion and social status to be together. Featuring an original score, Bhagmati is presented by Kuchipudi Kalanidhi.
