“Modernism: Designing a New World 1914-1939” chronicles the aesthetic revolution that replaced Victorian ornateness with a design sensibility uniting form and function. Almost 400 images and objects—paintings, collages, furniture, and architectural models—trace the history of a movement that continues to influence design. High points include a 1933 Tatra car and the first “modern” kitchen from the mid ’20s.
