The Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association (CBYRA) is proud to announce that its 44th Annual Annapolis Race Week will be held in the heart of downtown Annapolis at the Susan C. Campbell Park over Labor Day weekend, September 4-6, 2010. Known as the “Sailing Capital of the Nation,” Annapolis is one of few cities that can boast such an accessible and scenic venue, with the capacity to host hundreds of attendees and a large fleet of sailboats.
Run in conjunction with the local initiative, “Summer at City Dock,” Annapolis Race Week (ARW), is encouraging the public to participate in the 3-day event that will celebrate the sport of sailing and showcase some of the “best” that Annapolis has to offer.
On average, ARW hosts 175 sailboats from all over the country and brings thousands of sailors and spectators to the area. This year there are 2 national competitions taking place during the regatta, the Farr 30 North Americans and the Cal 25 North Americans. Both chose ARW as their venue because of the exceptional challenges of racing on the Chesapeake Bay and the shore-side activities that follow.
ARW runs Saturday, September 4, and Sunday, September 5, from noon until 8 PM, and Monday, September 6, from 3:00 p.m. until 8. Food, drinks, live music, street performers, sailing demonstrations, face-painting, and much more are all taking place and are open to the public.
