BG Muhn's first installation work is an ambitious and stunning series of invented "portraits" of mythical Chinese empresses. Using techniques ranging from deadpan official Chinese portrait style to composing a face out of hundreds of houseflies glued to the canvas, Muhn uses the work as a metaphor to reveal the dark side of human nature.
