Every neighborhood should be lucky enough to have a place like this Hemingway-inspired bar. Its exposed brick and chalkboard menus are charming, its cocktail list is creative without being esoteric, and it has an authentic vintage feel. Thanks to talented young chef Justin Bittner, the small plates are as much a reason to show up as the drinks. The menu changes regularly, but a constant is a plate of crispy potatoes with malt aïoli—a favorite of nearby chefs, who regularly show up for a nightcap. Good news: Come spring, there’ll be more breathing room on packed weekend nights when the bar expands into the building’s second floor.
