Todd Thrasher’s Old Town spot is perfect for special occasions. Beautifully outfitted with dark wood and cream-colored cushions, the intimate second-floor speakeasy feels at once civilized and celebratory—everyone dresses up (jeans are frowned upon), but as the evening wears on, boozy cocktails take their toll. New friends are made, old friendships are strengthened, love blooms. Intricate drinks beckon (house-made duck-sauce soda, anyone?), but we’re partial to such PX standards as My Wife’s Manhattan, with cherry bitters, and the Sweet Basil, with Lillet Blanc, orange-flower water, and basil simple syrup. Insider tip: Drinks like these can sneak up on you. Leave the car at home and call a cab. Open Wednesday through Saturday.
