Dr. Assil Saleh is a 1998 graduate of the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy's and St. Thomas's in London, England, where she earned her medical degree with honors, followed by house officer training in medicine and surgery. She moved to the United States in 2000 and completed a residency in internal medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She stayed on at Hopkins for a three-year fellowship in rheumatology, during which time she also earned a Master's degree in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

After finishing fellowship in 2006, Dr. Saleh joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and rapidly developed a busy clinical practice that focused on diverse problems of internal medicine and clinical rheumatology. Her particular areas of clinical interest include arthritis, vasculitis, and inflammatory and auto-immune diseases. Her research focus has been the relationship between cardiovascular disease and arthritis, on which she has published. Dr. Saleh is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.

She has joined Foxhall Internists after moving to the Washington DC area, where she lives with her husband, also a physician, and their two sons.
