DESIGN INTERNSHIPSThe Washingtonian's art department offers internships each term to students interested in publication design and the production process. Interns will work with members of the art department to produce a range of projects including basic magazine layouts, house ads, and promotional pieces. They will assist the photo department in scanning, photo research, and calling for stock photos, as needed. The internships are for school credit only, so interns must be enrolled in college. Twenty hours a week is preferred, and a flexible schedule can be arranged. The ideal candidate will be organized, self-motivated, and will possess good verbal and written communication skills. Applicants should be prepared to attend an in-person interview and present a portfolio. The portfolio should consist of work done in Adobe InDesign and/or QuarkXpress. Projects executed in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator may also be included.
To apply: Mail résumé, cover letter, and hard copies of your design samples to the address below. Design samples cannot be returned. Applicants should specify term (spring/summer/fall) for which s/he is applying. Faxed or e-mailed applications are not accepted at this time.
Application Deadlines: If you have additional questions, contact Erin Chrisinger by e-mail: designinternships@washingtonian.com. No phone calls, please. |
