Makeup Artists for Your Wedding Day

Beauty Mark, Lorton; 703-550-9329. Brides say Kim Giammaria—our top vote-getter—has a calming influence and gives them a natural look. Rates: $295 for the bride on site, $85 each additional person; lesson $150.

Carl Ray, George Spa Salon at the Four Seasons, 2828 Pennsylvania Ave., NW; 202-342-1942. Ray, who specializes in a natural look, has worked with Bo Derek. Rates: In the salon, $100 for the bride; $100 each additional person; trial run $100. On site, $500 (for two hours) for the bride and two others plus $250 each additional hour.

Carola Myers, Fairfax; 571-214-5558. Good at a classic, timeless look, Myers did the makeup for Diane Kruger and Nicolas Cage for the Washington premiere of National Treasure. Rates: $245 for the bride; $90 each additional person; $90 for trial run.

Erika James, McLean; 703-587-4116. James creates natural, elegant looks and offers airbrush makeup. Also does hair. Rates: $100 makeup, $250 hair and makeup, $85 trial run; $1,000 for full-day hair and makeup for up to six.

Erwin Gomez, Erwin Gomez Salon & Spa, 1519 Wisconsin Ave., NW; 202-333-7290. Gomez, who has 27 years of experience, enjoys working with brides of different ethnicities and specializes in Persian weddings. Rates: $400 and up for the bride on site, $150 in salon; $155 each additional person on site, $150 in salon; $125 trial run.

Gustavo Mottola,
Gustavo Cosmetics, Arlington; 703-908-9620. Mottola, who has worked with Demi Moore, has a cosmetics and skincare line. He does more than 100 weddings a year. On-site rates: $100 a person (including bride) with a four-person minimum. Studio rate: $95 a person.

Janice Kinigopoulos, Bridal Babe, Ellicott City; 410-531-2199. Kinigopoulos does makeup for HBO’s The Wire and has worked with Ashley Judd. She also does hair. Rates start at $600.

Jenny Dickson-Rankin,
North Potomac; 301-762-1268. A 20-year veteran who has worked with actresses and newscasters, Dickson-Rankin is good at shaping and slimming facial features. Rates: $500 on site, which includes the bride and two to three other women; bride’s trial run $100.

John Kuri, New Wave Salon, 11828 Rockville Pike, Rockville; 301-928-2879. Kuri creates elegant looks and accentuates eyes. Also does hair. Rates for makeup: $200 for the bride in salon, $300 on site; $85 each additional person in the salon, $100 on location; trial run $75 and up.

Kimberly Steele, Springfield; 703-597-9955; kimberlysteele.com. Steele, who has worked with Christian Slater and fitness guru Denise Austin, can give brides an understated, classic look. Rates: $100 in salon; $150 on site; $90 each additional person; trial run $100.

Leah McKay, Falls Church; 703-241-8402; leahmckay.com. Known for her calm demeanor, McKay will travel for destination weddings. Rates: $200 for brides; $125 trial run; $80 each additional person.
