Where to Find Cageless Boarding and Suites for Pets

Looking for a place to leave your pets when you’re out of town? These kennels offer suites and cageless boarding:

Country Club Kennels and Training, Catlett, Va.; 540-788-3559; countryclubkennels.com. Located on a 45-acre farm, this kennel’s Fauquier County location—there’s another in Orange County—offers 12-by-12-foot bedroom suites or communal living with couches. The $35-a-day cost—$60 for two dogs, $90 for three—includes six-plus walks; “pond trips” are an additional $15 each. Discounts not available for holiday and summer booking.

Mountain Run Kennel, Culpeper, Va.; 540-547-2961; mountainrunkennel.com. The private suites at Mountain Run, set on 35 acres in the Virginia Piedmont, are connected to outdoor runs. The cost—$85 daily, $40 per additional dog—includes one-hour group play, nature walks, and pond swims. Door-to-door pickup and delivery $85 a trip, $40 for a second pet. Feline boarding $20 a day.

Olde Towne Pet Resort, Springfield, Va.; 703-455-9000; oldetownepetresort.com. Accommodations at this 27,000-square-foot resort range from $55 to $120 for a two-pet suite. The $100 luxury rotunda suites have Web cams so owners can view their pets online. All stays include three daily walks. Daycare, swimming, grooming, and massages available; discounts for additional pets. Cats $25 to $45 a night.

Perfect Pet Resort, Lothian, Md.; 410-741-0000; perfectpetresort.com. The suites at this 16,000-square-foot facility have cots with fleece bedding, and there are several play yards on 14 acres. Rates are $38 daily for small dogs, $42 to $45 for larger dogs. Play time is three times a day. For $70 a day, there are six private suites with TVs and a choice of a couch or bed. Massage and acupuncture available.

Seneca Hill Animal Hospital Resort & Spa, Great Falls, Va.; 703-450-6760; senecahillvet.com. Cottage rooms start at $58 a night; suites are $75 to $88. Four daily walks and one play session included. Indoor swimming pool. Cats $38 per night; discounts for multiple pets.

Tiki’s Playhouse, Glenelg, Md.; 410-489-7889; tikisplayhouse.com. Private suites and pet sleepovers in two open rooms in a private ranch-style home. There’s an 800-square-foot yard for all-day outdoor time. Rates $55 to $65 a day; pickup and drop-off $30 one-way, $55 round trip. Cat boarding $20 a night.
