Tennis Anyone? Legg Mason Classic Rocks Rock Creek in August

Washingtonians have their own tennis tournament to get excited for: the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in August.
It will be tough to beat the drama that Wimbledon provided (Federer over Roddick, 16 to 14 in the fifth set!), but Washingtonians have their own tennis tournament to get excited for: the Legg Mason Tennis Classic, August 1-9 at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park.
As of July 6, notables slated to play are James Blake, Lleyton Hewitt, Juan Carlos Ferrero and the aforementioned Roddick (we hope his better half, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker, shows up, too).
Single session tickets are still available and range from $10 to $70. If your passion for tennis sways toward rabid, a box seat package has your name written all over it. This is what $525 gets you: a seat in one of the first four rows from the court for all sessions, access to the Courtside Club restaurant, and parking privileges.
Getting There: Traffic could swell on 16th Street leading to the tennis center; your best bet is to take the Metro to the Van Ness-UDC Station, which is on the Red Line. From there, you can then pick up a free shuttle to the venue. Shuttle service will begin 90 minutes prior to the start of matches from the first Saturday of the tournament through Friday.
