Best of Washington: Tempting Hotel Treats

Ever dreamed of being onstage? You can buy your way into one of the Washington Ballet’s performances of The Nutcracker. From December 6 through 23, the Willard InterContinental (1401 Pennsylvania Ave., NW; 202-628-9100; washington.intercontinental.com) is offering hotel guests a private tutorial with Septime Webre, the ballet’s artistic director, followed by a walk-on role. Packages start at $3,739 for two and include one night in a suite, breakfast, a carriage ride, and more. Two weeks’ notice is required.

If you’re having trouble dreaming at all, check into the Fairmont Washington (2401 M St., NW; 202-429-2400; fairmont.com). With the hotel’s new “sleep concierge,” guests can order from a menu of soothing treats, including an in-room neck massage ($22.50) or sleep yoga class ($30), a rose-petal bath ($15), and sleep-inducing tea with a lavender cookie ($8). The service is currently on only the Fairmont Gold floor, but there are plans to offer it hotelwide.

For round-the-clock pampering, try the St. Regis (1667 K St., NW; 202-638-2626; stregis.com). When the hotel reopens in December following a 16-month renovation, it will provide every guest with 24-hour butler service, previously available only in suites. Armed with handheld devices, butlers will run errands, arrange outings, and otherwise cater to guests’ every whim.
