How would you describe your style? I like to wear things that are fitted and structured but interesting and funky.
Where do you like to shop? On Lokation at 14th and U streets in DC. It’s not a traditional boutique—it’s open only Thursday through Saturday. I love vintage stores like Annie Creamcheese in Georgetown, Remix on Capitol Hill, and Diva in Old Town. I also go to MNG by Mango in Tysons Corner Center—it’s like Zara, but the clothes are more curve-conscious.
What do you splurge on? Not much. I’m willing to splurge on a nice pair of jeans. It’s the price-per-wear factor. Joe’s Jeans is a label all women should look at.
What outfit always makes you feel terrific? I love the high-waisted trend. It is very flattering for girls with curves. I have a Trina Turk skirt with a cummerbund waist that looks terrific. I also love my vintage pink coat. I found it in a store on the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
What was your worst fashion disaster? I have been known to make weekend runs to 14U Cafe wearing clothing that may resemble a velour tracksuit.
What’s the best fashion advice you’ve ever received? People focus too much on trends. Chanel said it best, “Fashion passes; style remains.” Also: If you can’t stop thinking about it, you should own it. Want to nominate a local woman for next year's best-dressed list?
