He's Got Style: Arash Shirazi

By Mary Clare Fleury

10 men who like fine clothing and know what looks good on them talk about where they shop, labels they love, fashion tips, and what they splurge on—including one man’s 3,000 ties.

Arash Shirazi, 33
President, Bullitt Bookings music agency; agent for electronic-music duo Deep Dish

How would you describe your style?

Classic but remixed with a little edge. I’ll wear a nice shirt and blazer with Adidas shoes.

Favorite designers?

Neil Barrett—his clothes are cutting-edge but classic. I think Dolce & Gabbana makes the best suits. For jeans, I like Rock & Republic. And Jil Sander.

Do you have a fashion inspiration?

Steve McQueen in Bullitt. And I think George Clooney sets the bar—he always looks well dressed. I also appreciate the new generation of guys like Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke, who put their own spin on classic styles.

Is there a type of item you splurge on?

I tend to splurge on suits and sunglasses. You can always use the jacket of a nice tailored black suit for different occasions.

Any fashion disasters in your past?

My friends growing up laugh about my Z. Cavaricci parachute pants. I looked like MC Hammer, but it was 1990 and Hammer Time!

Favorite thing in your closet?

I have a black TSE cashmere sweater that I wear all the time. It never goes out of style.

Best fashion advice?

I was told to never ever wear my BlackBerry on my belt. It was stolen when I was in Milan, and I thought that since it’s a city that takes fashion seriously, maybe it was deliberate. I went to the police station, and the first question everyone asked was, “Why would you wear your BlackBerry on your belt?”
