Until recently, this soaring seafood dining room seemed like a relic of its ’90s heyday, getting by on a mix of tourists and expense-account K Streeters. Good thing the restaurant found chef Matthew Kuhn, who has brought the kitchen back to life. Kuhn is a native of South Carolina, and he’s not shy about making that known, throwing bits of country ham into an arugula-and-beet salad and turning out a terrific version of that low-country favorite, Frogmore stew. You’ll still find many of the place’s original hits, and the Chinese-style smoked lobster and coconut-milk-drenched tuna tartare remain as crowd-pleasing as ever.

Don’t miss: Eggplant-chickpea-and-tomato soup with crab; goat-cheese-stuffed chiles rellenos; fried oysters with cider a├»oli; crabcakes with tarragon butter; scallops with sweet potatoes and red-wine jus; chocolate/peanut-butter torte.

Open: Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner, Saturday and Sunday for dinner. Expensive.
