Head to these Indian eateries for street food and warming curries that aren’t shy on spice. With its jewel box of a bar and snug dining rooms, the Cleveland Park original feels a bit more elegant than its Chevy Chase sibling, which is sprawling and color-splashed (ask for a table in the tucked-away room with the fountain). Both have cushy benches and satin pillows as well as a mood of ease and leisure. Although the menus are near clones, the kitchen at Indique seems to be the lab for experimenting with Indian fusion. If the dish works, it shows up at both restaurants. Don’t miss: Salmon sliders; deconstructed samosas; calamari with ginger and shallots; pork belly with hot pepper, mustard, and vinegar; tandoori lamb chops; aloo gobhi, cauliflower with cilantro and cumin; okra with dried-mango powder; shrimp curry with tamarind. Indique Open: Monday through Thursday for dinner, Friday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. Indique Heights Open: Daily for lunch and dinner. Moderate.
