The sign out front says only oriental noodle, and the shabby strip mall that houses it is bordered by an adult-video store. But what this cafe lacks in charm it more than makes up for in warmth, generosity, and consistently tasty food.

Owner Bong Lee is attuned to your needs, replenishing kimchee without asking and overseeing a kitchen that sends out big noodle bowls as artfully composed as they are delicious. Lee will even snip the long noodles for you. The standout? A version with cool, buckwheat noodles topped with slices of brisket, a splash of red-chili sauce, and strips of seaweed. But don’t miss the chicken noodle soup or the clam soup, both of which are restorative.

There’s also marvelous mandu—dumplings steamed or fried—and a very good whole chicken cut into bite-size pieces, battered, and deep-fried; you can customize the spiciness by dipping the pieces into the pinch bowl of salt flecked with red pepper.

The Viennese coffee, a cross between a shake and a cappuccino, works as a cool, creamy closer.

Open Monday through Saturday for lunch and dinner.
