New in downtown Bethesda, Don Pollo (7007 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda; 301-652-0001; $9.99 whole; $5.99 half) roasts a moist bird with crisp skin and milder seasoning than El Pollo Rico’s; not-too-mayonnaisey red-skin-potato salad and piquant rice and beans ($1.25 to $3.50) are good sides. We like to mix the jalapeño and mayo sauces to make a fiery dip for the chicken.
