The owners of Moroni & Brother’s (4811 Georgia Ave., NW; 202-829-2090) may have learned to toss dough at DC’s Pizzeria Paradiso, but with a thin, olive-oil-flavored crust that’s chewy at the edges and crunchy inside, these pies channel Philly and New York. The signature Diavola pizza ($15.95 for a 12-inch) isn’t for the faint of heart: It’s heavy on sauce and cheese, with a generous scattering of sweet and jalapeño peppers, red onions, and sausage.
