It’s got to be a good sign that almost every other customer crammed into this tiny space is speaking Hebrew or Yiddish. And it is. The falafel ($4.99 for four balls in a pita, $7.99 for seven as a platter) is delicious—spicy and fried to order with not a hint of dryness. The pita is freshly baked, soft enough to absorb the juices from a trip to the free fixings bar but sturdy enough to hold its stuffing. Sweetly spiced layers of turkey and lamb make the shaved shawarma—also served on pita ($5.99) or as a platter ($8.99)—another lunchtime favorite. Open Sunday through Thursday for lunch and dinner (closes at 6), Friday for lunch.
