Best Dishes
The appetizer list is long and varied--dumplings, buns, spring rolls, and marinated meats and vegetables, the latter mostly cold. The juicy small buns, full of broth and ground pork, are excellent. Other good choices are the pan-fried or steamed dumplings, roast duck in chef's sauce, and the lobster curl. The long menu is worth exploring. While the front-of-the-book listings of rainbow chicken, pork with garlic sauce, and orange beef will please most palates, part of the joy of the restaurant is discovering less-familiar dishes. Try crispy salty pepper chicken, cut into golf-ball-size pieces, seasoned, and deep-fried; baby clams Taiwan-style with a brown sauce and basil; sautéed shrimp with salted rape, green cabbage, or Chinese cabbage (bok choy); a hot bowl of triple-flavored chicken with ginger, soy sauce, and basil; Wuzi spareribs, meaty and chewy ribs with a rich brown sauce; steamed cod simmering on a fire pot; and eggplant stir-fried with garlic sauce or sliced and deep-fried with garlic sauce.
