Dirt Cheap Eats 2006
Roast-beef sandwich at Steamship Carryout. At first this looks like any old deli, fulfilling the Snickers and Vitamin Water hankerings of nearby World Bankers, until your eye wanders to a glistening round of rare, crimson roast beef on the sandwich counter in back. There, $5.25 buys a kaiser roll piled with thick, peppery slices heavily drizzled with jus and a side of thick fries or neon-orange mac 'n' cheese. It beats the gray slices at the neighboring sandwich chains any day.
