Dirt Cheap Eats 2007: Potato Valley Cafe

Cafes & Carryouts

Baked potatoes. That’s all this tiny Annapolis cafe serves. If that hardly seems enough to merit opening an entire restaurant, you haven’t eaten one of these gorgeous, perfectly roasted spuds ($6 to $7)—big, buttery, and full of the mineral character you seldom find in commercial baked potatoes. They’re good all by themselves, but a dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of fried onions, and a few slices of mango add richness and complexity—making for a hearty, quick, and healthy lunch.
