Neighborhood Eats: Yamazato

Fans of creative maki will love this friendly Japanese/Thai dining room where there are 69 takes on the sushi roll. We go for the Turbulence, a crunchy riff on spicy tuna; the Tropical Monsoon, a marriage of white toro with mango and yuzu; a shrimp-tempura roll spiked with honey; and the garden roll with pineapple, cilantro, and basil. Traditional sushi and sashimi are fresh and finely cut, and appetizers such as airily battered tempura and a fiery Thai larb gai are good bets, too.
