Folky rock band the Decemberists, fronted by the unique sounding Colin Meloy, perform at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Opening the show are musicians Andrew Bird and Robyn Hitchcock. Tickets ($30-$45) can be purchased here. The show starts at 7.
Tuesday, June 9: Epic Theatre
Bertolt Brecht's contributions to literature and theatre are celebrated at the Goethe-Institut with an evening of performances and discussion. Scenes from some of Brecht's works will be performed, and the cast and director of Mother Courage and Her Children (currently on stage at the Clark Street Playhouse in Crystal City) will be in attendance. The event is free, but a $20 donation is suggested. 6 PM.
Wednesday, June 10: Jazz Prodigy
14 year-old classical pianist Tony Madruga will perform at the Kennedy Center as part of this year's Duke of Ellington Jazz Festival. The concert, which is free, starts at 6.
Thursday, June 11: Bachelor(ette) Auction
As part of this year's Capital Pride week-long festivities (which culminate with a parade on Saturday and a concert on Sunday), a bachelor and bachelorette auction will be held at Town. Proceeds of the auctions benefit Capital Pride. Tickets to the event are $5 at the door. 9 PM.
