The Shay, the shopping destination that’s been bursting with new retail over the last year—from Warby Parker to Ministry of Supply to most recently, Bucketfeet—has held some creative events to get locals to visit the area. Tonight, the neighborhood is hosting a “curb side arcade” with pinball machines and classic arcade games.

The pop-up arcade is part of a new series of events in Shaw called “Tuesdays on 8th.” This installment will bring eight arcade games—including Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Centipede—and two pinball machines to 8th Street and Florida Avenue. The event will also include live music by Brass Connection Band and AJ Smith, and the individual stores at The Shay and Atlantic Plumbing will be offering promotions of their own throughout the evening. During the event, one person will win $1,000 to the neighborhood’s shopping and dining businesses, such as Frank & Oak, Read Wall, Bonobos, and Kit & Ace.

The neighborhood plans to host another Tuesdays on 8th on August 16, with a yet-to-be-determined theme (though you can expect live music and store promotions to accompany the August event as well). Additionally, Shaw has launched “Fitness Saturdays” with free outdoor exercise classes, such as yoga or boot camp, on July 23 and 30 and August 6, 13, 20, and 27. The classes are held at 8th and Florida Avenue from 10 AM to noon each Saturday.

The Tuesdays on 8th event planned for July 19 will run from 5 to 8 PM at 8th and Florida Avenue.
