It’s Official: Uniqlo Is Coming to Union Station

Two words: packable essentials.

Japanese-born lifestyle clothing brand Uniqlo is opening up shop in historic Union Station starting next Tuesday, October 10th, which means commuters and locals alike will be able to pop into the 3,400-square foot shop for the brand’s lightweight, streamlined styles and packable ‘LifeWear’ basics.

The Union Station Uniqlo will be adjacent to the Amtrak ticketing station (perfect for last-minute packing fillers). Indeed, Uniqlo seems to have anticipated a role as a hub for last-minute shopping, with a focus on ‘grab and go’ items that might fit the needs of transient, jet-setting types and commuters, alongside their classic clothing selections including merino sweaters, jeans, and outerwear.

Beginning tomorrow, October 4th and running through the 6th, the opening will be highlighted with a promotional installation in Union Station’s main hall. For the store’s opening event on the 10th, they’ll be celebrating with appearances from D.C. United players Marcelo Sarvas, Steve Birnbaum, and Jalen Robinson.

The store opening follows closely on the heels of a pop-up shop on 1090 F St. NW in Penn Quarter that opened on September 28th. The Union Station location of Uniqlo will be the second permanent outpost of the fast-fashion retailer in the greater metro area; the first brick-and-mortar opened in October of 2016 at Tysons Corner.

Union Station, Washington D.C.; 50 Massachusetts Ave.
