Cynthia Hacinli
Cynthia Hacinli has been writing about restaurants, food, and wine for The Washingtonian since 1996. She also covers a range of subjects from style to travel for the magazine. She has written for such publications as the New York Times, GQ, Travel & Leisure, National Geographic Traveler, Saveur, and Yankee. She is the author of Down Eats: The Essential Maine Restaurant Guide, has contributed to several travel guides including Fodor's Washington, and is coauthor with her husband, Bill Connor, of Romantic Days and Nights in Washington, DC, a guide to romantic places and pasttimes in the area (Globe Pequot Press). She has also made appearances (in disguise) on local and national TV and was featured on the Food Network series Food Fantasies.

Hacinli, a New York City native, is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, and worked for several years as a newspaper reporter covering politics and education. She received a MS from Columbia University’s School of Journalism in 1985, worked as a copy editor and writer at Gentleman’s Quarterly, then became the restaurant critic for the Maine Times before moving to Washington in 1995.
