Dr. Margaret Culotta-Norton, DDS, was born and raised in the Washington DC area. She specializes in preventive, restorative and cosmetic dentistry, serving patients throughout the District of Columbia and surrounding metro area at Margaret Culotta-Norton, DDS, PC.

Dr. Culotta-Norton loves spending one-on-one time with her patients and addressing their unique dental concerns. Her attention to detail and service hasn’t gone unnoticed. Dr. Culotta-Norton has repeatedly earned the Top Dentist Award form both the Washingtonian and Checkbook magazines.

Dr. Culotta-Norton received a Bachelor of Arts in biology at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. She then returned to the Washington, DC area to attend dental school. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with distinction from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1979. As a Uniformed Services Health Professions Scholarship recipient, she was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserves and served three years at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California.

In 1982, after completing her Navy obligation, Dr. Culotta-Norton moved back to Washington DC to join her father, Dr. Anthony P. Culotta, in his practice, where she has been for over 35 years. That same year she returned to her alma mater, Georgetown University, where she served as an associate clinical professor. After the school closed in 1990, she became an advocate for the dental alumni, serving several terms on the Dental Alumni Board. For her efforts on behalf of her alma mater, the Georgetown University Alumni Association has awarded her both the Apollonian Award and the School of Dentistry Distinguished Service Award.

Throughout her career, Dr. Culotta-Norton has established a distinguished history of professional and service involvement. She is an active member of the American Dental Association and the District of Columbia Dental society in which she has held several offices including president. She currently serves on the DC Dental Society Board of Directors and its Foundation. She is also an active member in the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the Greater Washington Academy of Women Dentists, and the Maimonides Dental Society. Dr. Culotta-Norton has served as president of the USA Section of the International College of Dentists and is currently serving as president of its foundation.

Through her involvement in organized dentistry, she has been honored with several awards, including the Sterling V. Mead Distinguished Service Award and the Committee of the Year Award for her dedication to the DC Dental Society and her profession. Dr. Culotta-Norton enjoys giving back to the community, participating annually in Give Kids a Smile Day, Donated Dental Services Program, Mission of Mercy events, and the Archdiocesan Healthcare Network in Washington DC, for which she was awarded the groups Pro Bono award in 2009.

When Dr. Culotta-Norton isn’t working with patients or enhancing her professional skills through continuing education courses, you can find her spending time with her husband, three adult children, and at present, her four beautiful grandchildren whom she loves to spoil. She and her husband enjoy skiing, travel, relaxing at the beach in Delaware, and being active in their church and community.
