Dr. Pereles grew up in Potomac, MD., attending Churchill High School. He was a university scholar at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Chemistry. He stayed at the University of Pennsylvania for medical school, getting his M.D. in 1987. He completed his Orthopaedic residency at the George Washington University and a Sports Medicine/arthroscopy fellowship at Orthopaedic Research of Virginia. Dr. Pereles has been a volunteer to the United States Olympic Committee, The Cherry Blossom Ten Miler and a medical consultant to the Marine Corps and Boston Marathons. He specializes in shoulder and knee problems with particular interest in swimmers, runners and cyclists. He is board certified and holds advanced certification in Sports Medicine. Dr. Pereles is a medical consultant to Runner’s World magazine and has been a “Top Doc” in Washingtonian and Checkbook magazines since 1997.
