John F. Lazar, MD, is a board-certified general thoracic surgeon, Director of Thoracic Robotics at Medstar Washington Hospital Center, and an assistant professor of thoracic surgery at Georgetown University Medical School. He has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery and the use of advanced technology, especially robotics.
Types of surgeries performed by Dr. Lazar are esophagectomy, mediastinal resections, hiatal hernia repair, anti-reflux procedures, tracheal repair and resection, and lung cancer surgery. In addition, Dr. Lazar and his team are one of the only teams in the world that robotically treat tracheobronchial malacia, a condition that causes difficulty breathing due to airway collapse.
