Dr. Zahir is at the forefront of endoscopic spine surgery and is passionate about this advancement in minimally invasive spine surgery. With endoscopy, some spinal surgeries are performed through incisions less than 1 centimeter in length. He has dedicated his career to advancing this procedure.
Dr. Zahir was the first surgeon in Virginia to perform an endoscopic lumbar laminectomy using a newly released endoscopic device in 2017 – the joimax® iLESSYS® Delta. His new practice focuses on offering the least invasive surgical solutions first and to avoid fusions if possible.
Dr. Zahir was formerly Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital for 5 years. He is an expert on three separate endoscopic spine systems and continues to teach other surgeons about the procedure from around the world.
Each patient that sees Dr. Zahir undergoes a comprehensive evaluation by the doctor himself. His patients also appreciate the time he spends during each visit. Dr. Zahir takes pride in promoting a patient-centered approach in the care of his patients. A good portion of his practice consists of offering second opinions for patients seeking to avoid spinal fusions.
His practice conveniently serves patients from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region.
