MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University Medical Center | 844.333.DOCS

Time is Brain, and when you’ve had a stroke, every second counts. For over five decades, the Neuroscience Center at MedStar has been a trusted source of care in the Mid-Atlantic region, combining the expertise and compassion of our Neuroscience staff with the power of advanced medical technology to deliver the best possible outcomes to patients. The first of its kind in the Washington region to be certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, MCSP joined an elite group of medical centers nationwide that share this prestigious certification. The integrated Neuroscience team approach brings together the combined experience of Stroke Neurologists (Dr. Amie Hsia and Dr. Richard Benson), Endovascular Neuroradiologists (Dr. Ai-Hsi Liu and Dr. Mike McCullough), Neurosurgeons (Dr. Edward Aulisi and Dr. Bryan Mason), and “dual-trained” physicians like Dr. Rocco Armonda (Neurosurgery and Endovascular) and Dr. Andrew Stemer (Neurology and Endovascular). This “Team” system allows physicians with different skill sets to offer the BEST options possible for treating stroke patients, from routine stroke evaluations to complex aneurysm and hemorrhagic stroke cases.
