General John W. “Mick” Nicholson, Jr. – President of the PenFed Foundation
General John W. “Mick” Nicholson, Jr., a retired United States Army Four-Star General, is the longest-serving commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan and NATO’s Resolute Support Mission. He continues his service by helping military heroes off the battlefield as President of the PenFed Foundation, which helps members of our military community secure their financial future.
PenFed Foundation is a national nonprofit providing service members, veterans, and their families with the skills and resources to improve their lives through financial education, homeownership, short-term assistance and veteran entrepreneurship. In 2020, the Foundation will partner with the VA to help address the suicide crisis in our military community.
The PenFed Foundation has helped more than 140,000
military families since its creation in 2001 with more than 95% of funds raised going directly to support its programs. PenFed Credit Union (penfed.org), Equal Housing Opportunity, funds most operational costs, demonstrating its strong commitment to the programs the PenFed Foundation provides.
